Where are your products made?
At MITSUBACHI.EU, every piece is handcrafted by talented artisans in Japan. Our founder, Dick C. Hoogerdijk, has had the privilege of meeting these artisans personally and was truly impressed by the exceptional quality of their craftsmanship.
What makes your porcelains unique?
Each piece in our collection is handcrafted by skilled Japanese artisans, meaning no two pieces are exactly the same. From the delicate brushstrokes of the glaze to the subtle variations in texture, every item carries its own individuality and charm. This dedication to craftsmanship ensures that each piece is a one-of-a-kind work of art.
Our items are not mass-produced. All of our porcelains are individually handcrafted by artisans in Japan, using traditional techniques. This means that every piece has its own distinct features, including slight variations in color, shape, and texture, adding to its uniqueness and authenticity.
How do you ensure the authenticity of the products?
Handcrafted by Master Artisans: Every ceramic item is handmade using traditional techniques passed down through generations. We work closely with artisans who specialize in specific regional styles, ensuring that each piece reflects the rich cultural heritage of Japan.
Direct Sourcing: We source our ceramics directly from the Japanese artisans.. This means that you’re receiving an authentic product with a direct connection to the artisans themselves.
Certificate of Authenticity: For select pieces, we provide a certificate of authenticity that details the artisan’s background and the region of origin. In the case of the Arita porcelain cups and bowls by Akio Momota, the wooden boxes that hold these pieces are more than just beautiful containers. Traditionally, these special boxes are signed by the artisans and include the names of the pieces, along with the specific styles. For true connoisseurs of Japanese art, these signed boxes serve as the official certificate of authenticity, connecting the owner to the artisan’s legacy and craftsmanship.
Unique, One-of-a-Kind Creations: Since all of our ceramics are handcrafted, each piece can be said to be One-of-a-kind. While the styles, dimensions, sizes, and pre-kiln treatments are consistent, every piece reacts uniquely to the high temperatures in the kiln. As a result, subtle variations in glaze patterns, shapes, and colors naturally occur. These differences are not imperfections, but rather a hallmark of true handcraftsmanship, contributing to the individuality and beauty of each piece. It’s these unique variations that make each item truly special. No two items will ever be identical, making each purchase truly special.
What materials are used in your products?
Arita wares are crafted exclusively from Japanese kaolin (a type of fine clay) and water, ensuring the highest quality and purity in every piece. This traditional material gives Arita porcelain its renowned smooth texture and durability.
How can I stay updated on new collections?
By signing up to our newsletter, you will be the first to be updated on our new collections and offers. You can find the email form in the footer of the website
Can I send an item as a gift?
Our cups and bowls are beautifully packaged in traditional Japanese boxes, tied with a special ribbon, making them perfect for gifting. The small plates are presented in elegant black boxes, though, at this moment, we don't offer a special wrapping for the plates. You can view images of the packaging by scrolling down the product page.
How can I care for my handmade items?
We recommend treating each piece with care to preserve its beauty. Since every item is crafted with love and attention to detail, gentle hand washing with mild dish soap is the best way to maintain its distinct design and prevent any damage.
The porclaine should not be warmed up in the microwave.
Can I request a specific design or variation of my order?
While we cannot guarantee an exact replica of a previous piece due to the handmade nature of our ceramics, we welcome custom requests. If you're looking for a specific style, color, or pattern, please contact us, and we’ll work with our artisans to create a piece that closely matches your vision.
What if I don’t like the variations in my order?
We understand that the handmade variations might not always match your expectations. If you're not completely satisfied, you can return your item within 30 days for a refund or exchange. Please note that slight differences in color or design are a normal part of handcrafted items and should be considered before purchase.
Do you offer pieces that are identical to what’s shown on the website?
Because our ceramics are handcrafted, we cannot guarantee that each item will be identical to the photos shown. We make every effort to represent each piece as accurately as possible, but the beauty of handmade ceramics lies in their uniqueness, so your piece may have its own slightly different features.
Orders and Shipping
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship internally to most countries. Shipping fees vary based on your location, and customs duties or taxes may apply depending on your country’s regulations. You will be able to view your shipping costs at checkout.
An item I wish to purchase is out of stock. What do I do?
Since all of our products are handmade and produced in a sustainable manner, orders to Europe may take up to 8-12 weeks to arrive. Some items may arrive sooner, depending on availability and order circumstances. While we always do our best to process orders efficiently, we’re unable to provide a more precise delivery timeline due to the unique nature of each piece. In the meantime, you can subscribe to back in stock notification, if that option is available
How long does shipping take?
You will receive email notifications about the status of your order, whether it has been fullfiled or shipped.
What is your return policy?
Purchased items can be returned within 14 days of the delivery date.To initiate a return, please contact us at info@mitsubachi.eufor further instructions.Return Policy:
- The costs for the return, including any applicable customer taxes, are the responsibility of the customer.
- Return shipping costs will not be reimbursed.
Important Information:
- Items must be returned in perfect, unused condition, and in their original packaging.
- This includes all components such as wooden boxes, sealed cords, or hard cardboard boxes, exactly as received.
- Returns that do not meet these criteria may be declined.
Do you offer wholesale prices?
Unfortunately we do not offer a wholesale prices.
Can I modify or cancel my order after it’s been placed?
Once your order is placed, it is processed quickly to ensure prompt shipping. If you need to modify or cancel your order, please reach out to our customer service team as soon as possible. We’ll do our best to accommodate your
request, but if the item has already been shipped, we won’t be able to make changes.
Can I track my order?
Absolutely! Once your order ships, you will receive a tracking number via email. You can use this to track your package and see real-time updates on its delivery status.
What happens if my order arrives damaged?
We take great care in packaging our items to ensure they arrive safely. However, if your order arrives damaged, please contact us immediately with photos of the damaged item and packaging. We’ll arrange a replacement or refund for you
